When I started down this path I thought my red photo essay would be 90% flowers. While it easily could be, I found many other fun reds to share. I especially like the first one. Someone's Valentine escaped to land gently in my yard after a snowfall.
For years I wrote bimonthly letters to my Pop in an effort to entertain him and keep him up-to-date with my life and all the shenanigans in my backyard. When he died suddenly in April, the hole in my life was huge. Still is. These posts keep him very present to me, and who knows, maybe they still find him through the ether.

13 August 2013 - Red
Red. So many shades of red: orange-reds, blue-reds, and so many names: scarlet, vermilion, crimson. For me, red conjures up my grandmother whose favorite color was red and favorite flowers were roses. Red is remembrance, roses and romance, courage, honor and glory.
